Women have been attempting to defy social
expectations and norms. They have been protesting
for equal rights and battling for a position in
the world where they belong. And there are still
difficulties to overcome. Women frequently endure
unfair treatment or a level playing field owing
to their gender alone. But every now and then we
see examples of people of women winning over
their dreams, All this is not made up, even in
our mythology we have stories about women who
were great entrepreneurs like Sabala, Maitreyi,
Draupadi, etc. Ancient Indian entrepreneur,
Sabala was prosperous. She oversaw a sizable
caravan of traders who traveled throughout India
and beyond and was renowned for her trading
prowess. Sabala was also a devoted devotee of the
god Shiva, and it is reported that she utilized
her fortune to erect numerous Shiva
temples. Maitreyi was a philosopher and
businessman. She was a student of the great sage
Yajnavalkya and was renowned for her
intelligence and knowledge. In addition, Maitreyi
oversaw a huge trade enterprise that encompassed
the purchasing and selling of numerous goods. To
entrepreneurs of our generation who are inspiring
the younger generation to keep chasing their
dreams. Lets pay an ode to some of these
inspiring women.
