CD DevelopmentDr. John Pearson

• Objective To have the capability to produce and
  develop CD based materials for information
  dissemination and promotion.
• Subtopics
• Organization of materials, how to organize
  contents in a fashion that is understandable to
  users based on the Energy Information
  Administration (EIA) experience.
• Formats, what is the best format to use given the
  costs and benefits associated with alternatives
  such as using Microsoft Word documents versus
  using Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF).
• Production techniques, a step by step example
  will be given using PDOE data if possible.
• Adding interactive and audio-visual material.
• Advanced techniques, making a CD interactive with
  web based systems enhancing the ability to update
  contents on line

• Objective To institutionalize development and
  consolidation of all Databases and the PDOE, e.g.
  programs, projects and regular monitoring.
• Subtopics
• Review alternative data warehousing techniques
  including software alternatives.
• Accessing the data warehouse, how to develop
  systems that are user friendly.
• A step by step example of creating a data
  warehouse using PDOE data (if possible)

• Objective To streamline the Local Are Network
  (LAN) by avoiding the problems inherent to
  physical cabling and provide remote access to
  information.
• Subtopics
• An overview of wireless LAN alternative systems
  discussing the pluses and minuses of each
  alternative.
• An overview of the relative economics and
  performance characteristics of each alternative
  system.
• A discussion of real world experiences with
  alternative systems.
• A review of alternative dial-in systems and their
  characteristics including relative costs.

Monitoring the MarketAileen Bohn

• Objective To review monitoring systems that are
  designed to insure the public and elected
  officials that petroleum products are priced in
  manner consistent with economic competition and
  void of collusion.
• Subtopics
• Petroleum product price data collection systems.
  Sampling and frame development.
• Analysis of petroleum product prices, an overview
  of analyses done by EIA in response to national
  concerns.
• Analysis of financial statistics related to
  petroleum product pricing

Dr. Mark Rodekohr

• Dr. Rodekohr is presently the Director of the
  Energy Markets and Contingency Information
  Division which consists of approximately 25-30
  economists and other professionals. He has worked
  in the energy analysis and forecasting area of
  the Federal government for more than 25 years.
  In his current position, Dr. Rodekohr is
  responsible for short-term energy market
  forecasting, contingency analysis, and financial
  statistics.

Dr. John Pearson

• John D. Pearson is senior technical advisor to
  the Director of the Office of Energy Markets and
  End Use. His current activities include state of
  the art internet applications for energy
  information and data dissemination, web site
  performance evaluation and multi-media
  applications.

Norman Dowe

• Norman Dowe has been the Team Leader with
  responsibility for Information Technology
  strategic planning since the formation of the
  Information Technology Group (ITG) in January of
  1997. He is currently responsible for developing
  an information architecture that integrates
  Energy Information Administrations (EIAs)
  Strategic Plan with ITGs Information Technology
  Plan. Mr. Dowe is also responsible for
  coordinating and disseminating information
  technology standards used within EIA.

Aileen Bohn

• Operations Research Analyst, U.S. Department of
  Energy, 1988 to present. Progressed through
  seven positions of increasing responsibility
  starting with petroleum consumption surveys, then
  continuing to petroleum supply analysis,
  long-term forecasting of the international
  petroleum industry, emergency contingency
  planning, and petroleum market analysis. Most
  positions were in DOEs Energy Information
  Administration.
