Why and how: The gasoline direct injection four cylinder turbocharged engine is a very efficient technique to reduce the fuel consumption based on the requirements of the transportation, taking into account the traffic, speed requirements and load to be handled for movement. This project discusses about the analysis and calibration of the ’Gasoline direct Injection Spark ignited Four Cylinder Turbocharged engine’. The main aim of this endeavour is to use suitable calibration techniques to graduate the simulated brake torque and brake power of the GT-Power engine model within the target range of ±5% from the measured Brake Torque (in Nm) and Brake Power (in kW) which are obtained from engine test bench. In addition, Three Pressure Analysis method for single cylinder GT-Power model is taken up to calibrate the simulated peak cylinder pressure in target range of ±5% from the measured peak cylinder pressure (in Bar). The methods of three pressure analysis (TPA) and co-simulation help achieve better results. The calibration technique generally involves use of identified parameters from the TPA and use of suitable Design of Experiments (DOE) and manual tuning methods such as trial and error method. The final output of this project is precisely calibrated, accurate and adjusted gasoline engine model with accurate predictive capabilities.
