Children enjoy playing and sleeping with stuffed animals. Creating a stuffed dog out of different colors of yarn is not difficult and much less expensive than buying a stuffed animal. You can even create a dog that looks similar to your family pet. Making lovable stuffed animals is simple and something your children will enjoy doing with you. HOW TO MAKE A STUFFED DOG
2
Things Youll Need
  • Sturdy cardboard
  • Scissors or utility knife
  • Brown, white, black or tan yarn
  • Brown, white, black or tan craft foam sheets
  • Wiggly eyes
  • Old brown, black or white adult sock
  • Stuffing from an old pillow or fiberfill
    polyester
  • Needle and coordinating thread for the sock
  • Craft or school glue

3
Instructions
  1. Cut a 5-inch square out of the sturdy cardboard
using scissors or a utility knife.
  2. Wrap the yarn around the square at least 100
times. You can mix your yarn colors or use only
one shade depending on what color you want your
    dog.
  3. Cut a piece of yarn that is 6 inches in length.
Slide it underneath the yarn on one side of the
    cardboard.
  4. Tie the yarn tightly into a square knot.
  5. Flip the cardboard over and cut through the
middle of all the strands of yarns.

4
Instructions
  1. Cut the ankle section out of the old sock. Fill
it with old pillow stuffing, cotton batting or
    scrap fabric.
  2. Sew the open edge of the sock together with the
coordinating thread and needle. Use close
stitching so that none of the stuffing will come
out during use. This will form the dog body and
provide a soft pillow for your child's head.
  3. Cover the sock pillow with a generous portion of
glue on the top and sides of the stuffed sock.

5
Instructions
  1. Place the cut pompom in the center of the sock.
Arrange the yarn so that it covers the sock
portion well. This will give it a shaggy dog
look. Allow the yarn and sock to dry completely
    before continuing.
  2. Glue the wiggly eyes onto one end of the stuffed
    sock.
  3. Trace paw shapes onto the craft foam and glue
them to each end of the stuffed dog if you desire.

6
Instructions
  1. Cut a small circle or triangle shape out of the
black craft foam and glue it underneath the
wiggly eyes to form the dog's nose.
  2. Draw triangle shapes onto craft foam to create
pointed dog ears or you may want to draw oval
shapes to give the dog long floppy ears. Glue
them onto the head of the dog near the wiggly
    eyes.
