In the summer of 1999, hundreds of colorful cows
appeared in Chicago. These cows were life size
sculptures made of fiberglass.

• Some of the cows were standing.

Some of the cows were lying down.

Some of the cows were grazing.
All were painted in bright, beautiful colors.

The Day and Night Cow had daytime scenes on one
side and nighttime scenes on the other.

The Spring Flower Cow was painted with big
beautiful flowers.

The HANDsome cow had handprints in many
different colors.

• The Ladybug Cow was painted to look like a
  ladybug and hung on the side of a building.

The Cow that Jumped Over the Moon was hung from
the ceiling inside a library.

Some of the cows had stripes.
Some of the cows had polka dots.

Some of the cows were decorated with faces of
children.

There were cows painted to look like the Chicago
skyline.

There were cows showing farm scenes.

There were even cows showing outer space
adventures.

MOOnet was painted to look like a painting by
the French artist, Claude Monet.

PiCOWso looked like something created by the
Spanish artist, Pablo Picasso.

COWch Potato was reclining on a couch covered
with grass. Empty milk bottles were strewn about
on the ground.

Yes they do!!

In real life do cows come in many different
colors?
Yes they do!!

Angus cattle are black.

Herefords are red with white faces.

Jerseys and Limousin are brown.

Charolais are white with pink noses.

Both bulls and cows can be born with horns.

So even though real cows dont look like zebras
or superheroes, its fun to be creative! Now
