Title: What can this be?

1
  • What can this be?
  • This is a game to play that uses your knowledge
of the things around you. Each picture shows
something that has been magnified- made bigger.
  • Click on the mouse ONCE to move onto the next
    slide.

2
  • Look at each picture and decide what it might
be. There are clues to help.
  • Think very carefully about why you have made your
    final choice.
  • It may help to discuss your ideas with a partner.

3
Is it a scab? A chocolate chip in a muffin? A
wood knot?
4
Its a wood knot! Have another look at the
picture and then later on find more wood knots to
compare it with. Try the next one...
5
Is this fish eggs? Mashed banana? Sandpaper?
6
Its hard and will scratch. The picture makes it
look 60 times bigger than it is.
7
Its sandpaper! When you look at the next picture
think very hard about the clues you need to look
for in the picture.
8
Is this the back of a newly hatched chick? A
piece of chewing gum? Part of a human ear ?
9
Chewing gum does not have little blood vessels.
Chicks dont have hair so it must be somebody's
ear.
10
This is 60 times its normal size. What could it
be?
11
Can you see the filament in the lamp? This is
only 10 times the normal size, you can see the
part that glows when electricity passes through
it. Try looking at your own lamps.
12
  • Now you have 8 pictures to look at. They are all
things you might see in everyday life.
  • Compare your answers with other peoples.
  • Explain to other people why you have made that
    decision about each picture.
  • Your teacher will give you the answers.
