Tripmeo, an idea that started in 2002
during an Erasmus Exchange in Italy

• Tripmeo is a marketplace where hosts can display
  their homes or Holiday rentals to millions of
  potential guests. Guests can look for
  accommodations that appeal to them whether it is
  a city apartment or a cottage on the beach. When
  travelers find what they like, they contact hosts
  through the Tripmeo messaging system to make sure
  the space is available. Then they fill out an
  online reservation form. In order to ensure the
  safety of both guests and hosts, we require that
  all communications and transactions be conducted
  solely on the Tripmeo website.

  temporary basis. Well if so, Tripmeo is just for

• It all started during a one year student exchange
  to Italy, in 2002. After a year of fun and
  exploration shared with people from all corners
  of the world, the co-founder of Tripmeo set out
  to design a project with those from the exchange
  a website offering a selection of travel ideas
  across the world, including restaurants, hotels
  and excursions, and with an extra section
  offering this idea of 'local accommodation'. The
  project was never started, as many of the group
  started life careers and families upon returning
  home. However, they reunited in 2012 and
  reminisced about the life they once had abroad.
  Fully aware that they could not spend another
  year this way, what was to stop them living like
  that for a few days? And moreover, what was to
  stop others who don't have a year to spare? And
  this is how Tripmeo was born, with the idea of
  helping other people from far and wide to
  discover the world like a local, just like they
  had done ten years before, and facilitating the
  process for both them and property owners.

Tripmeo  Tips for hosts

• Tripmeo is a marketplace where hosts can display

  they contact hosts through the Tripmeo messaging
  system to make sure the space is available. Then

• Travelers fill out payment information at the
  same time that they submit a request. If the host
  can accept a guest at that time, Tripmeo takes
  the money and holds it in escrow. Guests and
  hosts are then given contact information so that
  they can discuss details of the stay. The guest
  is not charged anything if the host does not
  accept the initial request.
• Our system ensures that the payment is made in
  full and vacation rentals held in escrow until
  24 hours after the traveler begins his stay. When
  everyone involved confirms that theyare satisfied
  with the arrangement, payment is sent to the
  host. Once the stay is over, hosts and guests may
  write reviews of each other. This way they become
  known to others in the Tripmeo community.
