UITSP-HEC
  • University Industry Technology Support Program
    of the Higher Education Commission is an
    important step towards fostering high level of
    tangible cooperation between academia and
    industry for the sake of capitalizing on emerging
    international demands for products and processes
    in discrete and continuous manufacturing in order
    to contribute to national economy.
  • University Industry Technology Support Program
    (UITSP) of the Higher Education Commission
    proposes that the researchers preferably with PhD
    degree and affiliation with international
    professional bodies collaborate with local
    industry involved in discrete and continuous
    manufacturing for tangible results in terms of
    improvement of product and processes leading to
    decreased import of raw material and increased
    export of the finished product and processes. The
    products and processes needing improvement should
    ideally be in priority areas relevant to national
    needs for socio-economic development of the
    country.

    alternate fuel industry to meet the need of
    energy.

OBJECTIVES
  • To initiate UITSP for promotion of industrial
    research projects of direct relevance to current
    needs of industry to be carried out by scientist
    of public sector University with collaboration of
    local industry.
  • To identify and shortlist indigenous plant
    species for bio diesel production and promotion.
  • To develop standardized production process for
    bio diesel.
  • To recommend blending options of bio diesel for
    implementation.
  • To establish a setup at QAU which will be focused
    on practical experimentation on bio diesel as a
    part of an academic research.
  • To produce PhD and MPhil researchers in this
    field.
  • To provide useful and applicable data on
    botanical identity and description of Bio diesel
    yielding plants.
  • To discuss and share the experiences of R D in
    the sector of bio diesel with special reference
    to identification of new resources.
  • To describe potential, awareness and involvement
    of Pakistani community for protection,
    cultivation and production of oil yielding plants
    for bio diesel application in the country.

BOTANICAL RESOURCES OF BIODIESEL
  • Due to diverse ecological conditions of Pakistan,
    lucky to have over a dozen oil seed crops of
    which it can afford to grow one or the other in
    all season of the year. Depending upon the
    historical cultivation and production the oil
    seed crops were classified into conventional
    (i.e. traditional), non traditional, industrial
    and wild crops.

    oil yielding plants
  • Production plant for bio diesel
  • Generate employment opportunities in rural areas
  • There is a need to develop awareness among the
    people of the country that they should fulfill
    there bio diesel requirements keeping in mind
    that biodiversity of the area may not be
    exploited.
  • There is a need that Govt. should provide
    incentives to develop plants based bio fuel
    industries in the area for prosperity and
    development of local communities.
  • Further research should be done especially in the
    field of bio diesel producing plants as renewable
    resources
