The Bad News
  • 40-41 Paul leaves them with a warning Take care
that what the prophets have said does not happen
to you " Look, you scoffers, wonder and perish,
for I am going to do something in your days that
you would never believe, even if someone told
    you.' " Habakkuk 15

10
The Result
  • 42-47 Mixed response. Some are encouraged and
    others are not.
  • Verse 46 "We had to speak the word of God to you
first. Since you reject it and do not consider
yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to
    the Gentiles.

11
Verses 48-52
  • 48 When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad
and honored the word of the Lord and all who
were appointed for eternal life believed.
  • AC 1349 The word of the Lord spread through
    the whole region. 50 But

12
Remember
  • Not everyone is encouraged by the good news so
keep looking for those who are and invest deeply
    in them.

13
Jesus is the Answer!
  • No matter what the problem is Jesus is the
answer. He is the source of our encouragement
    and our courage.

14
Taking It Home
  • Lead people to Jesus and His word by example.
  • Have a list of passages that help you when you
    need encouragement.
  • Offer to study the Bible with people.
  • Beware the risk of carrying the burdens of
    others.
  • Know when, and how, to help.
