• First time we have used a webinar for SHIP/SMP
  training
• Opportunity to bring information to all of you
  without the expense and time of traveling to
  Augusta
• Plan to hold annual SHIP/SMP in-person meeting in
  the fall, but chose this option for the spring
  training.

New Resources for SHIP/SMP

• Benefits Enrollment Center funded by the
  National Council on Aging
• Noelle and Val will discuss this morning
• Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers
  Act (MIPPA)
• 250,000 over two years
• LIS or MSP outreach and assistance for those with
  limited incomes
• Outreach to those in rural areas who are eligible
  for Part D

New Resources for SHIP/SMP

• SHIP renewal
• focusing much of our effort on beneficiaries who
  are most in need of community-based, one-on-one
  counseling and expanding our outreach in the more
  rural counties. The development of a statewide
  Benefits Enrollment Network
• The implementation of Informational Kiosks
  throughout rural Maine Communities staffed by
  part-time peer educators
• The expanded utilization of web-based
  informational and training opportunities

• SMP renewal
• Submitted for June 1, 2009 start date
• continuing our efforts to educate Mainers about
  Medicare benefits and empowering them to identify
  and report health care errors, fraud and abuse.

• This morning you will have the opportunity to try
  out new technology
• You will have the opportunity to watch and listen
  to presentations and also will be able to ask
  questions
• At the end of the session, you will have the
  opportunity to provide feedback on the system. We
  look forward to hearing your thoughts on this
  approach to statewide training
