What is Roots Blower?
Found by Roots brothers, Philander and Francis
Marion Roots, Roots Blower is a positive
displacement blower which operates by pumping
fluids with a pair of meshing lobes not unlike a
set of stretched gears.

How Roots Blower Operates?
Operation of roots blower depends on a pair of
lobed rotors which rotate inside oval shaped
casing in the device. As the rotors rotate air is
drawn into inlet side of cylinder and forced out
the outlet side against system pressure. There is
no change in volume of air. Only the air is
displaced or moved from suction end to discharge
end. In this way roots blowers generate a
constant air flow rate or air movement
independent of discharge pressure conditions.

Types of Roots Blowers
Depending on number of lobes, a roots blower
rotor has, the roots blowers are classified as
twin lobe roots blowers and tri lobe blowers.
Now-a-days even four lobe roots blowers are also
available.

Usage of Roots Blowers
Roots blowers are widely used for air compressing
applications and therefore are commonly known as
air compressors. They are typically used for
applications where the volume of air moved is
large compared to the pressure differential. They
