KeyTrain
- ACT WorkKeys Job Profiles
- A trained profiler learns about the job by
- Job Description
- Touring the facility observing workers
- Meets with 5 of the employees currently doing
the job to determine what skills are necessary to
successfully do the job - Determines what skill level employees need in
each area
25ACT WorkKeys Levels
- When jobs are profiled, subject matter experts
(people who are actually doing the job) determine
what skill level is required for an entry-level
person to perform the job. - They also determine the skill level for a
performance-level employee (someone who has been
doing the job for a while.) - The higher the level, the more difficult the
skill required to perform the job.
26WorkKeys Characteristics of Assessments and
Score Level Range

29How the Job Profile Helps
- Determines skills gaps where training is needed
- After determining the characteristics and skill
levels for a job, employees complete the
WorkKeys assessments in those areas to
determine if they have the necessary skills. - Can be in used in critical employment decisions
- When doing the job profile, if a second group of
employees were profiled for validation then the
information can be used for hiring, firing,
promotion, training purposes, etc.

interactive system for improving the basic skills
measured by the WorkKeys Employment System. - The KeyTrain system includes targeted,

unduplicated employees were conducted. - The assessments help industries determine
employees current skill for job success.

38Challenges for Manufacturers
- At Piedmont Community College we strive to know
local employers and to help them access services
that will help them survive. - Everything is not perfect and we are still losing
some of our traditional textile-based companies. - When companies close, the community suffers
economically and socially - We must continue to seek ways to help our small
manufacturers survive they are the life blood
of rural communities.
