Family Friendly Tours in Washington, DC There is
no better way for a family to tour Washington, DC
than by bike.  Bike and Roll tours are a safe and
fun way to see America's backyard while bonding
and building memories to last a lifetime!  We
think that all of our tours are great for
families and if you are traveling with smaller
children we recommend that you take either our
Monuments or Sites _at_ Nite Tours.  On these tours
you will bike to the sites where you will learn
some fun facts and you are given 5 - 10 minutes
to walk around and explore the monument and
memorial grounds.  (Child trailer tandems and
trailer carriages are available.) If you have
older kids we think our Capital Sites and our
Capital Sites _at_ Nite Tours are great options
too.  The rides are a little longer with less
stopping.  These tours are slightly longer and a
great way to plan for the rest of your visit in
Washington, DC.

  • Kids on a CO boat quickly realize this isn't
merely a pleasant hour on the water. The mules
pulling the boat from the canal-side towpaths are
the first clue. Kids end up rapt, listening to
the costumed commentators explain how children
like them (the children of boat captains) once
worked guiding the mules. It will make mowing the
lawn or putting out the trash seem like a cinch.

11
  • School-Age Kids Have your child ask the captain
if she can wear the captain's hat and ring the
    bell.
  • Pre-Teens Teens The rangers love the mules
that pull the boats, and they especially love to
tell kids about each animal's unique personality.
  • Planning Notes
  • Get active. Before your trip, have your child
find out how he can become a Junior Ranger. There
are printable PDFs describing activities for
either 6-8 or 7-12 year-olds. Go here for more
    info.
