What projects require building permits?
  • New buildings
  • Additions
  • Renovations
  • Demolitions
  • Prefabricated structures
  • Temporary buildings
  • Electrical systems
  • Plumbing systems
  • HVAC systems

  • All projects must have an assigned F/I or UCF
    project number before proceeding
  • Submission of plans to the BCO office are to
    include Document Review Request(s) (filled out by
    project manager)

PLAN REVIEW
  • Five sets to be submitted if plans are going to
    State Fire Marshal
  • Three sets submitted if no Fire Marshal review
    required
  • For SFM review, the time period is generally 30
    days from date plans are received in Tallahassee
  • For local review, 1 week

Fee
  • BCO fees are on a fee curve, based on the
    construction value of the project (posted on our
    website-www.ehs.ucf.edu)
  • 20 of the total fees is due at time of plan
    review (under 5M)
  • 15 due if over 5M
  • The remaining percentage is due at time of permit
    issuance
  • The State Fire Marshals fee is .0025 of value
    of work

Where are we now?

Time To Get Your Permit
  • Project manager is notified once plans are
    approved
  • Permit application is submitted by contractor to
    BCO office
  • Business licenses and insurance certificates are
    provided for contractor and sub-contractors
  • Final fee is secured by check, or charged to
    specified department
  • Permit is ready within 2 days and requires
    signature by license holder or designee with
    power of attorney
  • Permit card and approved plans to be on the job
    site

Staying On Top Of The Job
  • Inspections are submitted on a request form via
    fax to BCO office by 4 PM for next day
  • State Fire Marshal inspections require separate
    request form (see our website) faxed directly to
    Tallahassee
  • To close out projects, all inspections must be
    passed and an application for CC or CO is to be
    submitted
