  identify risk accumulation processes and identify
  those communities that require urgent risk

• Dar es Salaam Collect data on and map small,
  medium and large-scale disaster events in three
  communities (selected to represent different
  conditions) to identify risk-accumulation
  processes (at household, community and
  institutional level) and identify and evaluate
  coping strategies used by different actors
• Accra Identify appropriate indicators for
  environmental health and for disasters and
  collect data on these to allow a mapping and
  monitoring of conditions and trends to provide
  planners, community members and others with
  relevant data on risks and risk accumulation
  processes and an early warning system

  clinic records, interviews with selected
  informants (eg community health workers, nurses,
  teachers..) and focus group discussions
• Clarifying the range of primary and secondary
  stakeholders within each category of risk
• 2 To expand a GIS database with data and trends
  on environmental health to include data and
  trends on disasters (including floods/rainstorms,
  earthquakes and fire outbreaks) with GIS mapping
  of the data (combined with other data already
