Tecnologico de Monterrey's History
  • Tecnologico de Monterrey is part of the Mexican
    educational system in the category of Free
  • The mission of Tecnologico de Monterrey is to
    form persons with integrity, ethical standards
    and a humanistic outlook, who are internationally
    competitive in their professional fields at the
    same time, they will be good citizens committed
    to the economic, political, social and cultural
    development of their community and to the
    sustainable use of natural resources.

Tecnologico de Monterrey's History
  • As of 2004, Tecnologico de Monterrey has 33
    campuses in Mexico and a Virtual University with
    presence in Mexico and other countries. It has an
    enrollment of 96,832 students -28,986 in high
    school, 57,181 in undergraduate programs and
    10,665 in graduate programs- and 8,253 faculty
    members, of whom 1,208 have doctoral degrees.

Business Processes
  • One of theses campuses is the Campus Estado de
    Mexico (TEC-CEM). Located in the capital
    metropolitan area, the TEC-CEM has been
    distinguished by the winning of several Service
    Quality prizes including the Asian Pacific.
  • Since 1997 the TEC-CEM decided to invest in
    defining standards for making in-house
    information systems in order to satisfy the local
    requirements of automate business process.
  • The key process for making local developments
    according to business needs is that the General
    Manger authorizes the business processes that are
    going to be automatized.

Two critical business processes
  • There are two main activities that make the
    difference between the TEC and other Universities
    in our country
  • guarantee faculty members support effectively
    teaching and research
  • counseling and advisory services for students to
    obtain their goals.
  • In order to try to get these activities work
    together, at the TEC we offer information
    systemes that help people in charge of the roles,
    to accomplish their tasks in a simple way.
  • Using our content manager portal services, and
    based on a effective role-person assignment, we
    can offer these web services in a nice easy way
    for end users to work with.

  • Some aspects related to the activities that are
    available in our information services are
  • verifying classes beginning and ending on time
  • making sure all classes are given all the topics
    covered and the resources used
  • all the research production of faculty members
  • all homework's and class work checked and feed
    backed to the student
  • opportunity of having immediate personal and
    academic information for following students'
    academic and personal behavior

Counselor's Role
  • The counseling of the students is focus so the
    student can make success during his academic
    studies, dealing with his personal problems and
  • The information that was available en several
    different information systems was personal data,
    class schedule, grades and performance,
    non-academic classes.
  • Also one counselor helps and deals with 300
    students in average per semester.

  • The information system called CEI (Strategic
    Center of Information) holds all the workplaces
    an academic director and a counselor have.
  • The access to the system has a single sigh-on
    structure which permits recognize the person and
    his role in the organization.
