Birth of the SPC RN to BSN Program
  • Need for Program
  • Extreme shortage of registered nurses
  • SPC BSN was projected to and has increased
    enrollment in the SPC AS so we are graduating
    more RNs
  • BSN provides a higher level of critical thinking
    needed to make increasingly complex nursing
    judgments

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING
  • RN Completion Program Only
  • Students must already be registered nurses
  • Can be either AS or hospital diploma graduates
  • Seamless articulation with prior nursing
    education
  • Delivered at HEC, or off site locations - Morton
    Plant Mease Hospital, Oakhill Hospital, BayVista,
    and currently at Bayonet Point

  • Registered Nurse
  • Current, valid, unrestricted, unencumbered
    nursing license
  • Completion of SPC and Baccalaureate applications

    students per admission
  • Current enrollment numbers are 330

  • AACN endorsed a position statement in October
    2005
  • Supports the move by community colleges to offer
    BSN degrees and increase access to the
    baccalaureate.
