Scientific Objective A pioneering workshop /
symposium combination brought current hot
topics in polymer science to high school
teachers (Saturday afternoon) and to both
researchers, high school teachers, and their
students on Sunday and Monday. The program
included Saturday Highly communicative
scientists working with Polymer Ambassadors
(specially trained high school teachers)
presenting the essence of in-classroom experiment
kits that were provided to insure immediate
implementation Sunday / Monday scientific
presentations on topics such as Chemistry and
the Stradivarius" by J. Nagyvary to an audience
of high school teachers, their students, and ACS
meeting attendees.

Education Symposium and workshop
cosponsored by the Royal Society of Chemistry and
the Polymer Chemistry Division, American Chemical
Society Workshop attended by 25 K-12 teachers
in the Philadelphia area Workshop Web-cast to
the U. of Akron and the U. of Arizona attended
by 25 teachers at each off site location
Symposium attendance ranged from 100 150
Financial sponsorship by the National Science
Foundation and other sponsors gratefully
acknowledged in posters and an official program.
Professor Nigel Clarke, University of Durham,
England describes a student drum fabrication
project to 25 K-12 teachers at the PSOET workshop
Saturday afternoon.
