Title: tour of the solar system

1
Tour of our solar system
  • By Kolton Hofsess

2
The Sun
  • The corona can be 2 million degrees. It is in the
center of the solar system. You cant get near it,
it can be 2 million degrees, it is gassy and
dusty, made of 75 hydrogen 25 helium.

3
Mercury
  • It does not have an atmosphere. Mercury is the
closest planet to the sun. At its closest it is
46 million kilometers from the sun and at its
farthest it is nearly 70 million kilometers from
the sun. It is a inner planet. It has no moons.
Mercury has craters, color is basin weird terrain
    and scarps.

4
Venus
  • The atmosphere of Venus is so harsh that it is
the main reason that no one has ever been able to
make optical observations of anything other than
the planets upper part. It is 108 million km from
the sun. It is a inner planet. It has no moons.
There are volcanoes, it is the second planet from
the sun, considered to be a twin to earth, it has
    iron, silicates water, and more.

5
Earth
  • The atmosphere of earth is 78.09 nitrogen,
    20.95 oxygen, 0.93argon, 0.039carbon dioxide
and other gases. Earth is 93 million miles from
the sun. It is a inner planet. It has no large
moon. It has humans on it, it has water on it, it
has a huge ring of gases on it, has a regular
temperature of 16 degrees, it was just water.

6
Mars
  • The atmosphere of mars is 95 carbon dioxide 3
nitrogen 1.6 argon and traces of oxygen. Mars is
228 million km from the sun. it is a inner
planet. It has two small moons. It has a reddish
hue over 3/5 of the planet, has frozen carbon
dioxide and water ice, has areas of changing
color that were once thought to correspond to
vegetation has markings that look like canals.

7
Jupiter
  • The atmosphere is mostly made up of hydrogen and
helium there is a storm on Jupiter called the red
spot. Jupiter is 483.78 miles from the sun. and
is the biggest planet in the solar system.
Jupiter has 4 large moons and 59 smaller ones.
One moon ion has active volcanos. Jupiter has a
    unique cooler to it.

8
Saturn
  • Saturn's atmosphere is made up of hydrogen and
helium and other substances like water ice and
methane. 1433449370km from the sun. Saturn is an
outer planet. Saturn has 62 moons. Saturn is the
second largest planet. And is a gas giant
composed of hydrogen and helium. Saturn's rings
are made up of ice and dirt.

9
Neptune
  • Neptune's atmosphere is made up of hydrogen
helium methane water ammonia and ices. It is 4.5
billion km from the sun. Neptune is an outer
planet. Neptune has 13 moons the first four are
naiad these despina and Galatea. Neptune is the
age of the sun 4.5 billion years.

10
Uranus
  • Uranus's atmosphere is made up of 83 hydrogen,
15 helium, and 2 methane ammonia. Uranus is
1.79 billion miles from the sun. Uranus is an
outer planet. Uranus orbit is a bit less then 90
degrees. Uranus also has 15 moons.

11
Pluto
  • Pluto is the smallest planet in the solar system.
Pluto is not considered a planet anymore it is a
dwarf planet. In 2006 Pluto was discovered a
    dwarf planet.

12
Moon
  • The moon has about 1/81 of the mass of Earth.
Earths moon is the fifth largest in the Solar
    system.

13
Asteroids
  • Asteroids are classified by there spectra. There
is a lot of types for example S-type includes
    matilc nickle and iron.

14
Commet
  • Commets are made up of ice, dirt. Commets can
also take 200 years to orbit the sun.

15
Meteoroids, and Meteorites
  • When they enter the earths atmosphere it cerates
    a small streak of light.
