Title: Indoor Commercial Lighting

1
Indoor Commercial Lighting
  • Unless your employees have an open-air office,
you will need to find some means of bringing
light into their workspace. This means that you
will need an efficient, reliable indoor
commercial lighting system that will grant the
right amount of light while using the least
amount of excess energy. Your type of business
will determine the type of indoor commercial
lighting you need. Gather together the
specifications of your project so that you can
bring them to a professional to get his
expertise. Many quality lighting retailers will
have experts on staff to help guide you in
finding the best products for your project, not
just the most expensive items they sell. Once you
know what you need you can begin installation and
all the sooner bring light to your workers.

  • If you have a warehouse type of area where your
employees work, your indoor commercial lighting
choices will be closer to those of an industrial
area. For large, lofted ceilings of twenty feet
or higher, it is recommended that you use high
bay lights. Lower ceilings will be best served by
HID low bay lighting. Both of these offer
lighting over large areas from a single lamp. By
having these evenly spaced in your business, you
can provide your employees with even lighting.
There are many choices for bulbs to fit in these
lamps. You might want to choose mercury vapor or
metal halide bulbs. Fluorescent is another indoor
commercial lighting option that works well with
high and low bay lighting. If you are not sure,
    as an expert.

  • Perhaps your business is more like an office. You
are likely to want to install fluorescents for
your indoor commercial lighting. These lights
have the benefit of having a long life and being
energy efficient. In decades past, people were
loathe to use fluorescent lighting fixtures. This
is because older models had several problems both
with the fixtures and the lights themselves. The
fixtures had poorly constructed ballasts which
would hum and cause a flickering. Both of these
actions were stressful and draining to those who
had to work for hours beneath them. Additionally,
these older indoor commercial lighting systems
would make people under them look sickly or
washed out. In fact, during the 1980's women
were told to wear more blush and darker reds in
their lipstick if they worked under fluorescent
lighting. This was because the lights then would
filter out red shades from flesh tones,
resulting in a pale look, unless compensated for.
Today, however, thanks to a new mixture of metals
and gases in fluorescent lights, this problem has
been diminished or eliminated. Now you have no
excuse for not using fluorescents for your indoor
    commercial lighting.

  • If you want energy efficiency, you will want to
stay away from incandescent bulbs or at least use
a Lutron dimmer control system as an energy
saving feature.. These are some of the least
efficient lamps you can buy, even though they are
the cheapest. They will require replacing much
quicker than other, more efficient options. If
you still want an incandescent light, there are
long lived choices. You might want to install
10,000 hour bulbs or, if temperature is not a
factor, halogen lamps. Both of these last much
    longer than traditional incandescents.
