2Ways to become a part of SHSs Students Council
- You already are a member!
- All registered students are members of SHSs
Students Council - Any student may attend Students Council meetings
- Qualified Candidates can become voting members
of SHSs Students Council in one of two ways...
3Qualified Candidates
- A Qualified Candidate is a student who has
received 25 names of students and 4 names of
teachers on the official nomination form and who
has at least a 70 average with no mark below 50
in the present school year.
4Two ways to become a voting member...
- by being ELECTED by the student body during the
official election - OR
- by being APPOINTED by the Selection Committee
during the official election period.

Green Representative Responsibilities -Ensure and
promote proper use of waste bins throughout the
school -Raise awareness of good environmental
practices -To assist Student Council in becoming
as eco-friendly as possible -To attend weekly
council meetings and other meetings called by the
Executive members -Any duties as requested by the
Executives. Green Rep Candidates must
demonstrate -Knowledge and interest in
environmental matters -A general outline of what
they can contribute to the Students
Council. -Examples of activities/events tailored
to being environmentally friendly -Leadership
skills

- Students Council Advisor
- Joel Thomas, Cyndi LeBlanc, Bhreagh MacMullin,
Kirsten Osmond, Ms. K. MacQueen - This committee oversees the election process,
ensures fairness during the campaign period and
ensures accuracy when counting the ballots.
12Selection Committee(Appointed positions)
- 2007-08 Executive
- Students Council Advisor (Ms. K. MacQueen)
- Administration (if required Mrs. L. Fewell)
- Teacher Rep (if required Ms. S. Sarty)
- This committee reviews applications and
interviews qualified and selected candidates for
appointed positions.
13Election Procedures (Elected Positions)
- If there are two or more qualified candidates for
a position, the candidate receiving the highest
number of votes will be declared elected.
