  • ADS-B SURVEILLANCE DATA IS CERTIFIED TO A LEVEL
    OF ACCURACY EQUAL TO/GREATER THAN CURRENT EN
    ROUTE RADAR
  • THAT DATA IS DELIVERED TO THE CONTROLLER IN A
    FORMAT THAT CAN BE USED FOR CONTROL PURPOSES
  • ADS-B EXCLUSIONARY AIRSPACE

Operational Expectations
  • Surveillance will be seamless with existing NAS
    technology

  • Over NEPTA, AZ1001, capable of Mach .80 cruise,
    is reduced to Mach .73, spacing behind
    Orlando-bound Citation

  • AZ1001 is mad, controller is mad, only person
    happy is the dot.com billionaire on the Citation
    taking family to Disney World
  • Does get small shortcut over BOXKR to join
    arrival into MIA(actually get to use RNAV)
  • Total distance.. 864 miles (always under radar)
  • Gate to Gate. 2 hour 6 minutes

ADS Scenario
  • Air Zoldos 1001 departs IAH, given initial
    heading of 110
  • Approximately 20 miles offshore (areas cold)
    controller clears AZ1001 direct Marci then the
    arrival into Miami
  • Approximately 140 miles south of Leeville, ZHU
    computer seamlessly switches tracking of AZ1001
    from onshore radar to buoy based ADS-B tracking
    system. by data tag informs controller aircraft
    is now being tracked by ADS based system

  • 150 miles west of FL coast AZ1001 assigned best
    forwardsequencing ahead of LAX-MIA MD-11 30
    miles southwest
  • Notices small bizjet to the north struggling to
    keep up
  • 15 minutes from land, AZ1001 requests 20 deg
    right dev for wx, controller issues 20 deg
    vector to climbing opposite direction traffic,
    then approves AZ1001s dev

    increased room to vector inbounds, result of
    offloading a/c to Gulf

    certain altitudes/routes

    now (without ADS-B)

  • ADS-B offers interesting alternative for on
    demand IFR services in offshore airspace
  • Benefits to operators during IFR conditions may
    be enough to offset limited VFR usage
  • Portability of system would solve gap widening
    problem of expanded production areas
  • High of aircraft utilize GPS and Datalinkcould
    lower equipage costs
