• Since that time the Red Sox have won no World
  Series titles and the Yankees have won 26
  titles.
  
• Fans claim that the team was cursed for trading a
  player like Ruth.

Road to the Title 1st Round

• Faced the Anaheim Angels in the first round of
  the playoffs.
  
• The Red Sox won the series 3 - 0.
• David Ortiz hit a home run over the Green
  Monster to sweep the series.
  
• Derrick Lowe got the final win to close out the
  Division Series.

Road to the Title 2nd Round

• Faced the New York Yankees in the second round of
  the playoffs.
  
• Went down 3 games to none before tying the series
  at 3 games each.
  
• Beat the Yankees in game 7 to win the American
  League pennant.
  
• First team to erase a three game deficit in major
  league history.

• Faced the St. Louis Cardinals in the World
  Series.
  
• First time the Red Sox were in the World Series
  since 1986.
  
• The Red Sox swept the Cardinals 4 - 0 and became
  World Series Champs.
  
• The Series MVP was Manny Rameriz.
