DISCOVER POLAND SUPRISING WARSAW
The capital of Poland is the biggest and the
fastes developing Polish city. Those who know the
city often agree that it is one of the most
fascinating cities in Europe, a city which
combines the influences of Western and Eastern
Europe, where tradition meets modernity and the
past coexists with the future. Maybe it is not so
easy to fall in love with Warsaw at first sight
but it is certainly difficult to forget this
truly unusual place. History has experienced the
capital of Poland very hard during the World
Ward II the city was almost totally destroyed and
was then rebuilt practically from scratch.
Warsaw is also a city of culture and music
after all it is the city of Chopin. Also
associated with communist times because of its
symbol the Palace of the Culture and Science and
the specific socrealism architecture, but Warsaw
changes each day and has many different
faces. Its dramatic history still is a part of
the city, but nowadays Warsaw with its
skyscrapers, animate business downtown, with its
parks and monuments, fine hotels and restaurants
and last but not least with its lively and
vibrant energy, is a modern metropolis. Warsaw is

Krakow is considered to be the most beautiful and
worth-seeing city in Poland. Charm of the former
royal capital, huge number of monuments,
night-life attractions and unique, magic and
friendly atmosphere made Krakow a hot destination
in the last few years. Time in Krakow is said to
flow differently and, indeed , you always have
time and possibility to taste life and stop for a
moment to enjoy its beauty. Krakow is an old
city, but has always been full of young people,

The capital of Lower Silesia is situated on the
Odra river and is often called The Island City.

islands and 127 bridges. Its name had 50 variants
during the one-thousand-year history of the
place. The history, which is both complicated and
fascinating, turned Wroclaw into an important
multicultural place. Wroclaw has been a
cross-roads of Polish, Czech, Austrian, German,
Jewish and Ukrainian cultures and has been a part
of Polish, Czech, Austrian and German states.
The past left its marks on the unique atmosphere
of the city, but nowadays Wroclaw is considered

Gdansk is a maritime city over a thousand years
old situated on the coast of the Gdansk
Bay. Gdansk has links with Sopot (a popular spa
resort) and Gdynia (an important seaport), and
together they form a conurbation known as the
Tricity. Gdansk has a great past of
Polish-German history with a significant period
when the town was a key member of the Hanseatic
League. In the 20th century Gdansk played again a
very important role in the countrys history
because it was the cradle of Polish Solidarnosc
and hometown of Lech Walesa. In 1980 Gdansk was
the witness of the birth of the Solidarity
movement which brought the end of communism in
Eastern Europe and since then it has often been
called a city of freedom. The newly opened
Roads to Freedom museum, which focused its
collection on the rise and fall of the 20th
century ideologies, has lately confirmed the
important role which Gdansk played in
Europe. Gdansk is one of the main touristic
goals for visitors in Poland, it impresses with
exclusive architecture of the Old Town, enchants
