    Learn.

    resources with your peers.

  • Pacing guides foster greater involvement with
    support areas.
  • They improve your instructional decision-making.
  • They spotlight opportunities for integration.

Pacing Guides vs Standards-Based Education
  • Ensure that what students are taught is not
determined by who their teacher is but rather by
    the standards to be taught

  • Curriculum guide
  • School calendar (with testing dates)

  • Classroom item bank

7
How Should Pacing Guides be Created?
  • All teachers in the school who teach the same

    the pacing guide.
  • Guides should be submitted to an administrator
(department chair or director) for review.

8
Steps in Creating an Electronic Pacing Guide

  • Select and copy the columns you want to include
    on your pacing guide.
  • Open Excel.
  • Paste what you copied from the blueprint.

continued.
  • Label the additional columns you will be using.
  • Add an Assessment Column
  • Format the document anyway you like.
  • You may want to add color or shading for emphasis

10
Pacing Guides
  • Save your blank pacing guide before you begin to
fill in the dates. (As long as the curriculum
stays the same, you can work from this blank
    copy.)
  • Print your pacing guide to have it close at hand
    during planning time.
  • Remember to collaborate with your peers.
