The Secrets to Our Success
  • Plenty of in-class guidance (research, H.A.N.,
    outline)
  • Regular homework check-ins (with feedback)
  • Goals at end of each lab day/in-class work day
  • In lab, specific types of searches each day
  • Add to Works Cited as you go
  • Teachers had to articulate the essential elements
of their curriculum, and many found that research
skills were lacking or not included
  • Force printing, highlighting and annotating
articles, and handwritten notes (most important,
    yet most often resisted requirements!)

18
Articulation
  • Super3 Elementary, Middle Schools
  • 9th grade English 2 Research Projects
  • 10th grade Speech (semester) 1 Research Project
  • 11th grade U.S. History 2 Research Projects (1
    small, 1 big)
  • ROADBLOCKS
  • Unenthusiastic, threatened?, not their job to
    teach research
  • Willing, but theyll do it- we help in labs
  • AP does no research (no time?!)

19
Wiki Fun, collaborative extra
  • Big6 Steps 3 and 4 (Location Access, Use of
    Information)
