Culinary Arts prepares students for entry level
employment in all areas of food preparation and
service.  This program also creates a smooth
transition for students from secondary into
post-secondary education and training.  Career
opportunities are fast growing and exciting. 
Graduates have gone on to work as chefs,
caterers, food sales representatives, bakers,
butchers, and restaurant food and beverage
managers.

Blackman Culinary Arts Instructor Mr. Daryl J.W.
Mackin   Six years of military service, 4 active
and 2 reserved (Navy) Graduate of the Culinary
Institute of America in 1990   25 years of
experience in the food service Industry   Executiv
e chef of the prestigious Haile-Maile restaurant
of Maui, Hawaii   Executive chef and part owner
of the Tarry-Awhile Resort and restaurant in
Bridgton Maine   11 years of teaching Culinary
Arts. 7 years in Maine at the Lake Region
Vocational Center, 1 year at Oxford Hills High
School and 3 years at BHS Married for 12 years
to wife Johannah and father of 3, Zachariah and
twins Malakai and Nadia

It is the mission of Blackman High School to
challenge, cultivate, and engage individual
students in the learning process while addressing
their diverse needs, thus preparing them for
post-secondary opportunities.BeliefsA.  All
