and innovators in the then new field of
    electrical engineering.
  • first meeting was held during the 1884
    International Electrical Exhibition, in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (October 7-8, at the
    Franklin Institute).

Your IEEE
  • This is your professional society
  • serve the needs of EE/CpEs
  • Member benefits
  • Knowledge
  • Stay current with the fast changing world of
    technology
  • Community
  • belong to a network of 365,000 members in 150
    countries.
  • Profession
  • empowering members to build their careers

19
IEEE Service
  • Volunteer Organization
  • All officers are elected from the membership and
    serve.
  • Benefits to members are result of volunteer
    contributions.

region and the largest U.S. Region. At the end
of July 2007 the Region had 55,911 total members
  • Region 6 represents 16.0 of IEEEs total
    membership.
  • The Region has 50,408 Higher Grade Members and
    5,503 Student Members.
  • Membership in Region 6 is down 0.7 from July
