About Crystal Studio
  • Crystal Studio was developed in 1997 and 1998,
    extensively tested and first released in 1999,
    and then underwent a major upgrade every year.
    Version 9.0 was released in January 2007. Ever
    since its first inception, Crystal Studio has
    been very robust and stable. It seldom requires
    fixes or patches owing to our extensive tests,
    not like some other software which are either
    first developed or overhauled and require
    continuous maintenances.

  • Crystal Studio is a multi-document / multi-view
    integrated software developed for Windows
    95/98/ME, Windows NT/2000 Windows XP and Windows
    Vista operating systems. Implemented with latest
    software technology, Crystal Studio is very
    powerful, fast and very simple to use. Empowered
    with a crystallographic database and a
    hyper-linked online help system, Crystal Studio
    lets you create crystal structure with stunning
    color and 3D realism in just a few mouse clicks.
    Crystal Studio presents an ideal tool for
    research and teaching in crystallography,
    materials science, solid state chemistry and
    physics, mineralogy and other fields related with
    crystal structures.

  • Apart from providing normal crystallography
    functionalities like 3D graphics etc. as other
    packages, Crystal Studio offers ample functions
    for defects like dislocations, twin boundaries
    and stacking faults, interfaces and surfaces and
    two phase coherent combinations. It also covers
    XRD, neutron and electron diffraction simulations
    and reciprocal lattice. Moreover it especially
    simulates the combined zone axis diffraction
    patterns for twins and two phase coherent

  • Crystal Studio is integrated with a
    crystallographic database. The database contains
    information about all 530 space group
    specifications from various versions of
    International Tables for (X-Ray) Crystallography,
    information on all elements in the Periodic Table
    including valence, radii etc. and latest data for
    atomic scattering amplitude and Debye-Waller
    factors for diffraction calculations. The
    database also include a crystal structure
    database with 6000 common crystal structures
    (Enterprise Edition) and a layer/cluster
    database, you can build your own crystal
    structure database for easy access to your
    routine crystal structures.

Simple User Interface
  • Double click on any object such as atoms, bonds
    and polyhedra invokes a dialog box for changing
    various aspects for that object and/or its
    equivalents. You can change various parameters
    either in individual or in equivalent classes.
    Double click anywhere else on the views invokes
    dialog or property sheet for you to change
    various parameters for the view. You can edit the
    crystal structure visually.

  • Right mouse button click on all views and objects
    invoke a context sensitive pop-up menu of
    commands for the views and objects, repectively.
    These pop-up menus make editing in 3D view quick
    and easy.
