Construction
  • In 1733, he started
    publishing Poor Richard Almanac. It contained
    weather reports, recipes, predictions, and
    homilies. Franklin continued the civic
    contributions, during the 1730s and
    1740s.Franklin constructed Philadelphias Union
    Fire Company.

When Benjamin was born
  • Benjamin Franklin was born on
    January 17,1706 in Boston. He was the tenth son
    of a soap maker, Josiah Franklin. His mother was
    Abiah Folger. The second wife of Josiah.

Escape to Philadelphia
  • When Benjamin was 15, his
    brother started a new company called the New
    England Courant. The first newspaper company in
    Boston. Benjamin wanted to write. After 16
    letters he confessed that he wrote. His brother
    was so mad that Benjamin ran away.

Ben as a teenager
  • Running away was illegal. He walked
    across New Jersey finally arriving in
    Philadelphia. He used the last of his money to
    buy loafs of bread. He saw a lady named Deborah
    Read. After Ben stayed at her house she asked Ben
    to marry her. Ben said no.

Inventions
  • In 1743, he had already
    Invented the heat efficient stove to heat a
    house. He invented the swim fins, the glass
    harmonica , and the bifocals. In the early
    1750s, He turned to study electricity.

Back Home
  • Franklin came home. He tamed
    lightning, a humble man who dressed like a
    woodsman, and a man that spoke French. He died in
    April 17, 1790 at the age of 84.
