Time is NOT on our Side
  • Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans and the Gulf
    Coast area on Monday, August 29, 2005.
  • On Tuesday, August 30th, the company began a
    series of phone calls with its contacts in local,
    state, federal, and business partners.

  • On Saturday evening September 3, Pictometry
    received a call from the FAA Air Traffic Command
    center in Washington DC with instructions for the
    pilots on how to enter the Katrina TFR (Temporary
    Flight Restriction) airspace.
  • The company began imaging portions of Mississippi
    on Sunday, September 4, but the planes were
    grounded on Monday, Labor Day, due to the
    Presidential visit.

  • Fully processed images were shipped for overnight
    delivery to six federal and numerous state
    agencies involved in disaster relief on Thursday
    the 13th.

  • In summary over 163,000 high-resolution images
    were delivered to numerous agencies representing
    such organizations as FEMA, DHS, NGA, the CDC,
    Army National Guard, NASA, National Center for
    Biodefense Communications, Health and Human
    Services, New Orleans Public Safety Departments,
    and numerous agencies in the Boloxi, MS area.
  • Dozens of web seminar training sessions were
    provided.
