2Publicly
I really think this is a great cause (as he
shakes)
He is acting!
- Embryonic stem cell research has become a topic
of heated debut. - Recently, the commercial that Michael J. Fox
appeared in has stirred up the most controversy.
3Publicly..
- Michael J. Fox is putting pressure on Bush to
shift his idea and pass the bill for stem cell
research. - This would allow 400,000 frozen embryos to be
used for research, that would otherwise be
destroyed. - Also, a Democratic Representative said she was
disappointed at Bush's veto threat against a
bill that holds promise for cures to diseases
that affect millions of Americans."
4Why Stem Cells Are So Important
- Stem cells are so special because they renew
themselves through division. - Under special conditions they can become a
different form of a cell. They can become a
beating cell, for the heart, or on an insulin
producing cell for the pancreas. - There are two different types of cells embryonic
and adult cells.
5Truth vs.. False
- Despite the misconception, embryonic cells are
not eggs from a womens body. - They are eggs from in-vetro fertilization
-donated for the purpose of research.
