What is the Leander ISD/ACCCollege Connection?
  • Adopted by LISD Board of Trustees in 2005 in
    conjunction with Austin Community College
  • College Connection has helped increase the number
    of LISD graduating seniors who enter college by
    creating an awareness of the benefits of going to
    college

Why Have aCollege Connection Program?
  • Many high school students find the college
    enrollment process intimidating
  • ACC LISD Transition Coordinators will provide
    hands-on, one-on-one support to assist every
    student through each step of the college
    admissions process

College Connection Activity Schedule

Leander ISD/ACC College Connection Advantages
Tuition cost at ACC is at an in-district rate,
which is approximately one third less than the
rate for surrounding school districts. Students
who successfully complete all of the steps in
this program will be fully admitted to ACCthey
are enrolled for life. Ability for students away
at college or in the military to register for
on-line courses at the in-district rate. Many
students return home for the summer and can take
college classes at ACC for transfer ASSET or
COMPASS College Readiness test (as necessary)
will be administered to all LISD seniors free of
charge.

COOL Week
  • COOL Week is a work-based experience available to
    all seniors that occurs the first week of
    February
  • Students must apply to participate and are
    matched to work sites by career preference
  • Students are assigned to work sites in teams of
    2-3 and will experience
  • Job application process
  • Interview and critique
  • Teamwork and problem solving
  • Job shadowing
  • Formal business presentation
  • Interaction with adults in career field of
    interest
