• To be aware of the benefits of a Gantt chart
• To understand the necessary Excel skills needed
  to create a Gantt chart
• To have started your SPB plan

• A plan is an initial idea it will change over
  time e.g. the design of the college changed
  during construction

Gantt charts

• A plan should laid out in an easily
  understandable, concise way
• You could do a list, a mind map, etc.
• Professional organisations use a Gantt Chart
• Example
• What information will you need?

• Tasks / sub-tasks
• How long each will take

Excel skills needed

• Row heights and column widths
• Fill cell
• Font colours
• Align cells direction, wrap
• Merge cells
• Borders
• Comments
• Group and Outline (optional)

Start your plan

• You should have a diary of when you did what last
  year
• There is a spreadsheet of lesson dates on the
  college web site
• The list of tasks and sub-tasks are in the SPB
