  • Moving to Change
  • Refreezing

10
Unfreezing
  • Involves letting go of old habits or patterns.

11
Unfreezing
  • Before any change can occur smokers need to
recognize and accept the fact that a change needs
    to occur.
  • The driving forces need to be far greater than
    the restraining forces.
  • When the smoker has accepted a need to change
then only can he/she begin to unfreeze the
    habit of smoking.

12
Making the Change
  • Involves altering an individuals thoughts,
    feelings, and behaviour.
  • Smokers must remember it will not happen over
    night.
  • A lot of patience is required. Keep a positive
    attitude.
  • Many methods will be attempted nicotine patch,
nicotine gum, cold turkey and so forth before
successfully finding a method that works.
