Grades of (bio)diesel

• There are no grades of biodiesel, there are
  blends of biodiesel.
• Biodiesel is made up of diesel, which has grades.

• ASTM (American Society of Testing Materials)
  define regulations for all fuels in the US,
  including biodiesel blends
• B100100 Biodiesel
• B2020 biodiesel and 80 petrol-diesel fuel.
• B55 biodiesel 95 petrol-diesel
• B22 biodiesel 98 petrol-diesel

Conclusion

• There are two types of grades Grade 1 and Grade
  2. Both have low sulfur content.
• There are three common ASTM approved blends of
  Biodiesel
• B20, B5 and B2.
• B20 is the most commonly used.
• Confusion lies in switching between biodiesel and
  diesel and biodiesel use verses biodiesel grades.
