Create an account

• If you do not have an account with Blackboard you
  need to create one before being able to access
  SCP On-Line courses
• In the box on the previous slide to the right is
  one which says Sign up today! Click here do so.
  It does not cost ANYTHING to create an account
  so ignore anything you see about costs

Scroll down to bottom of page of Terms of Use

• Click box to state you are older than 13 years
  old and click on Accept agreement
• In next dialogue box ONLY fill in those fields
  where there is a red asterix e.g. First Name,
  Last Name, username, password and verify
  password.
• You create your own user name and password BUT-
  write them down or remember them SCP cannot
  help with passwords for this as this is for
  Blackboard and NOT SCP courses. Scroll down to
  end of page and click submit. You may get a
  message to fill in the email address field which
  you can if you wish to or ignore when you get
  this message

Welcome page

• A new screen appears see previous slide which is
  your welcome page and will be usual log in page.
• To access SCP courses go to the middle tab on the
  upper right of the page labelled Courses and
  click on this to open a new window
• In the course search box type in SCP-CPD and
  click Go

Enrolling on courses

• In the new window you will see a list of courses
  only some of which are TRUE SCP courses look
  for instructor John Gordon Burrow these are the
  only official SCP courses. They also have an
  enrol button at the side. The other courses
  either have nothing or preview. You cannot access
  these courses

SCP courses

• There are three sets of SCP courses which have 10
  topics areas
• Core CPD Courses
• LA and Basic Life Support
• Core Courses 3
• These are 1, 2 7 in the previous list of
  courses.

Enrol

• Click on enrol and a new window appears

Access codes

• In the box insert the appropriate access code as
  it appears on the Members web site for that
  course i.e. it will have 3 sets of Upper case
  letters interspersed with a hyphen then 2 numbers
  e.g. SULF-SCP-CPD01 etc
• Type these access code into that box in upper
  case with two hyphens separating the 3 sets of
  letters/numbers. Click submit and a new window
  appears with a successful enrolment message

Click OK to continue You should now see you
course appear. Use the blue buttons on the left
hand side of the screen e.g. Announcements,
course information etc.) to navigate your way
round the courses materials. All course material
is in the folder marked Course documents.
Click on this and a new window appears. The
information may vary with e.g. instructions for
using the information or just folders with course
materials see next slide

Structure of courses

• In the last slide you will see there are 5
  folders which are all highlighted and underlined.
  Click on any of these hyperlinks to open this
  folder for subfolders of course materials
• Course documents will have the extension .pdf as
  they are all Portable Document Format which
  allows universal usage. Either click on them or
  right click and Save to if you wish to save to
  your hard drive and read without internet
  connected. Some files may have a .doc ane are
  word files
