while still in power and was succeed by Stalin.

exporting all of the food to Russian cities. He
declared the farmers to be enemies of the people.

  • WHEN Battles involving the Ukraine had been
going on long before the famine began in 1932 and
    ended in 1933.

in the Ukraine. So he exported all of the food

International Community
  • The international community had done nothing to
help the Ukraine against the USSR.
  • The countries that entered Ukraine came to
exploit the farmlands as the Soviets did.
  • I think the surrounding countries should have
stepped in to help the Ukrainians, or atleast
have send food to the starving people.
  • I think they didnt because they were afraid of
the massive size of the U.S.S.R. and Stalins
    terror.

6
Similarities to the Holocaust
  • Similarities
  • Millions of people were killed.
  • The kulaks and farmers were de-humanized and
    rights taken away.
  • They were both sent to labor camps to work as
    slaves.
  • Differences
  • The Kulaks were not sent to death camps but were
    starved to death.
  • The starving was because the Kulaks resisted the
    USSR.
  • Stalin wanted to take away the Kulaks rights to
    get their fertile farmlands.
