Supplies

• Paper
• Clear Contact Paper
• Sharpie Marker
• X-acto knife
• Glass (flat surfaces are easier)
• Armour Etch paste
• Paint brush

• We will be etching the glass using Armour Etch
• This is a chemical and should NOT be sniffed or
  placed near your face
• Always wash your hands after using this!

• Armour Etch is a fast acting specially formulated
  glass etching compound that lets you create
  permanently etched designs on windows, mirrors
  and household glassware. NOT intended for use by
  children. Will NOT etch Pyrex or plastics.
• NOT recommended for etching large solid areas of
  glass.

What to do

• Come up with a design darken the lines
• Transfer the design onto your clear contact paper
  using a fine tip Sharpie (use a small piece of
  tape to tape the contact paper over your design
  so it doesnt move)
• Clean and completely dry your glass or mirror
• Carefully place the contact paper on the
  glassthere cannot be bubbles
• Cut the design out with an x-acto knife
• Pull out the areas that were cut so that these
  areas will be exposed to the etching paste
• I will apply the paste for you after school and
  wash it offthe steps of this are illustrated on
  the following slides.

Tips

• Tiny lines left between etching may not stay
  protected with the contact paper and are hard to
  cut out
• Do not fill in a large area with the etching
  pasteit may not etch evenly
