Title: Accommodations and Modifications

1
Accommodations and Modifications
  • Accommodations and modifications are adaptations
that are made to the environment, curriculum,
instruction, or assessment practices in order for
students with disabilities to be successful
learners and to participate actively with other
students in the general education classroom and
    in school wide activities.

2
Accommodations
  • An accommodation is a change in the tests
    presentation, student response, location,
    timing/scheduling, expectations, and/or other
attribute which is necessary to provide access
for a student with a disability to participate in
the test, and which does not fundamentally alter
or lower the standard or expectations of the test
and does not invalidate the test.

3
Modifications
  • A modification is a change in the tests
    presentation, student response, location,
    timing/scheduling, expectations, and/or other
attribute which is necessary to provide access
for a student with a disability to participate in
the test, but which fundamentally alters or
lowers the standard or expectations of the test.
That is, it invalidates the test.

Assessment Related Terms

for you, with this new era in education you will
find the booklet to be very informative.
