Purpose
  • Welcome to the On-Campus Recruiting Orientation
  • This orientation will provide you with the
    necessary skills to successfully participate in
    the on-campus recruitment program whether you are
    seeking a job or an internship

Make the Commitment
  • Review and sign the On-Campus Recruiting
    Agreement (Note An agreement form must be filed
    at The Career Center in order to participate in
    on-campus recruiting)
  • Fax (410-704-3459), mail or hand deliver the
    agreement to

Take the First Step Create a Hire_at_TU Account
  • Login to www.towson.edu/careercenter
  • Select Students and Alumni click here under
    Hire_at_TU
  • If you already have an account, login. (Forgot
    your username and password? Call us at
    410-704-2233 for assistance).
  • If you are new to Hire_at_TU, clickClick here to
    Register and follow the instructions

Activate your Hire_at_TU Account
  • Complete your Profile including personal data,
    academics and future plans.
  • Upload your resume. You may also add a cover
    letter and related documents.
  • To allow employers to review your resume In
    your profile select Yes to Allow Employers to
    View Resume and Profile and/or publish your
    resume in the Resume Book
  • Note You must complete your Profile before you
    upload your resume and/or search for job and
    internship opportunities.

The On-Campus Recruiting Season Begins
  • Fall Semester October through November.
  • Spring Semester March through April.
  • Be sure to login to Hire_at_TU or The Career Center
    website for a list of employers participating in
    OCR.

Begin Your Search
  • Click on Schedules.
  • Select Qualified Schedules to view jobs.
  • Select Future Schedules and click Search to see
    a list of all positions and companies
    participating this semester.
  • Click on the Schedule ID to view and apply for
    positions.

Continue the Search
  • Review the job description and requirements.
  • Click Request Interview to apply and send your
    resume.
  • Application deadline is one week prior to
    interview date make sure you apply on time.

Interview Selection Process
  • Employers pre-select students to interview. You
    must be accepted before you can sign up for an
    interview slot.
  • You will be notified of your application status
    through Hire_at_TU account following the application
    deadline date.
  • Click My Account, click,My Activity, then
    click Schedules.

Application Status Accepted, Denied, Undecided
  • If you are accepted, signup for an interview
    slotgo to My Account, click on My Activity and
    click on the Schedules tab.
  • Under Pre-selection Activity, click the job
    title, then click on the Sign-up button and
    follow the instructions.
  • Sign up as soon as possible to ensure you get the
    slot you want.
  • If your application is denied, you did not meet
    the requirements posted in the job description.

The Interview Process Prepare Yourself
  • You should have your resume reviewed before you
    apply for a full-time job or internship position.
  • You should participate in a mock interview
    session at The Career Center prior to your
    interview.
  • Call 410-704-2233 to make an appointment.

Interview Strategies
  • Do your research For example Visit the companys
    Web site to learn as much as you can about the
    organization before the interview
  • Review the job description and be able to
    articulate your knowledge of the company and how
    your qualifications match the job
  • Always bring a list of questions to ask.

Dress for Success
  • Dress for the interview
  • For men suit, tie, no visible body piercing,
    minimal cologne, polished dress shoes.
  • For women pant or skirt suit, moderate make-up,
    minimal perfume and jewelry, no visible body
    piercing, closed-toe pumps.

Interview Day
  • Interviews are held at The Career Center 7800
    York Road, Suite 206.
  • Arrive early (at least 15 minutes).
  • Make sure you allow time for traffic, parking and
    the unexpected.
  • Bring copies of resume, transcripts, references
    and portfolio (if applicable).

What if You Are Unable to Make an Appointment?
  • Call The Career Center at 410-704-2233 two days
    in advance if you need to cancel your interview.
  • In case of an emergency, call the interview, if
    possible.
  • Call Cary Smedley at 410-704-2233 for follow-up
    instructions.
  • NOTE Applicants who do not attend a scheduled
    interview without proper notice will be removed
    from the Hire_at_TU program.
  • In case of inclement weather Call TUs main
    number at 410-704-2000 or visit the website at
    http//www.towson.edu for information.
