Aims
  • To bring together live and acquiring trust
    schools to share practice and strategies for
    success.
  • To explore ways in which the trust is raising
    standards and developing leadership and
    governance.
  • To explore the role, contribution and training
    needs of trust partners.
  • To identify effective strategies for running a
    trust.
  • To provide discussion and networking
    opportunities .
  • To identify ways in which the TFSP can provide
    further support.

The national picture
  • 250 live trust schools since 1st September
    2007 (including NCTs)
  • A further 460 schools on the Supported
    Schools Programme
  • Approximately 60 schools becoming NCTs more
    being considered.
  • 400 organisation supporting 250 trust schools
  • 1000 further partnerships in discussion with
    schools
  • Networking opportunities on-line forum for
    trust partners
  • Two more opportunities for schools to join the
    Supported Schools
  • Programme closing dates are

The trust process
  • Schools must
  • Follow the statutory guidance.
  • Register and access the Notice Builder at the
    DCSF School Organisation (SoU) website.
  • Inform the DCSF School Organisation Unit of the
    governing bodys decision once the representation
    period for statutory proposals has ended.
  • Refer all legal issues to their solicitor (TFSP
    cannot offer legal advice).
  • Seek advice from an accountant on trust
    financial matters and audit.
