Studies of Cell Growth Regulation
Platelet-derived growth factor binds, dimerise
and activates its receptor
  • How does the growth factor receptor transmit
    cell growth regulation signal ?

Receptor autophosphorylates specific tyrosines
Phosphotyrosines and surrounded amino acids
serve as specific binding sites for PI3K
(Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase) and PLC?
(Phospholypase-C-gamma)
PI3K and PLC? transmit independent and
redundant cell growth signals
