Why CCB
  • No proper sewerage system in the area
  • No toilets in houses which caused diseases and
    epidemics
  • Hygiene problems and burden on women
  • Children have to play in dirty water
  • Social conflicts and problems in mobility
  • No CCB was formed in the Teshil Mailsi.

Community Empowerment Process
  • Awareness and support by TMA and DTCE in Vehari
  • Female Activist received information and shared
    with other women to form CCB Al Mubeen
  • Established as first female CCB in 2006
  • 30 female members (25- 50 years of age)
  • Problem related to sanitation identified in
    communal meeting
  • Plan of action formulated to address the issue by
    CCB.

Development Approach
  • Total Cost of the Project 192,000
  • Community Contribution 40,000
  • House Hold 60
  • Beneficiaries 1400
  • Women mobilized their father/ husbands to
    contribute, some paid out of their wages and
    other contributed from their saving. Even some
    women worked as laborer
  • Committees formed to share responsibilities.

Constraints to Development
  • Lack of awareness about the registration process
  • Non-cooperation of officials concerned
  • Opposing attitude of males towards women CCB
  • Mistrust on capability of female members of CCB

What Difference is Made
  • 6 paved streets with cover drain of 970 feet
  • People have indoor toilets
  • Diseases controlled
  • Hygienic conditions improved
  • Socioeconomic benefit as rate of land and
    property increased and people started respecting
    CCB
  • Served as role model for male and female to form
    CCBs and take part in their own development.
