• After 2 decades of operation, modernization is
  required to maintain competitiveness, to adopt to
  newest standards and to assure further safe
  operation
• Operational and safety improvement is the basis
  to obtain public acceptance and to reach common
  ecological and economical targets
• VVER in Central and Eastern Europe which have
  passed through comprehensive modernization
  programs achieved above targets
• The key for success is the international
  co-operation of strong and experienced partners

• New Challenges

• After successful completion of several mutual
  projects AREVA aims to cooperate as a partner
  of Atomstroyexport in the Belene NPP
• AREVA offered supplies are mainly related to
  safety measures, IC, electrical systems,
  heating, ventilation and air conditioning
• Currently, AREVA cooperates with Atomstroyexport
  in the new VVER of Tianwan 12 with a comparable
  scope of supplies
• AREVAs participation in Belene will facilitate
  public and political (EU) acceptance and support
  to reach Bulgarias ecological and economical
  targets
