Torah of the Voluntary Burnt Offering
  • Vayyiqra 13-4 (CJB) If his offering is a burnt
offering from the herd, he must offer a male
without defect. He is to bring it to the entrance
of the tent of meeting, so that it can be
accepted by ADONAI. 4 He is to lay his hand upon
the head of the burnt offering, and it will be
accepted on his behalf to make atonement for him.
5 He is to slaughter the young bull before
ADONAI and the sons of Aharon, the cohanim, are
to present the blood. They are to splash the
blood against all sides of the altar, which is by
the entrance to the tent of meeting.

16
Torah of the Voluntary Burnt Offering
  • Questions/Comments
  • Who kills the animal?
  • Who cuts up the animal?
  • Who arranges the pieces of the animal?
  • Is there a conflict with the Apostolic Scriptures
(Hebrews 104 For it is impossible that the blood
of bulls and goats should take away sins) when
the Torah says it will be accepted on his
behalf to make atonement for him (Vayyiqra 14
    and elsewhere)?

17
Repentance for Forgiveness of Sins
  • Luke 2444-47 (Peshitta) 44 And he said to them,
"These are the words that I spoke to you while I
was with you, that it was necessary that
everything be fulfilled that was written in the
law of Moses and in the prophets and in the
Psalms about me." 45 Then he opened their minds
to understand the Scriptures. 46 And he said to
them, "So it is written and so it was right that
the Messiah should suffer and rise from the dead
after three days 47 and that repentance will be
preached through His Name for the forgiveness of
sins in all the nations and that the beginning
    will be from Jerusalem.

18
The Word of YHWH Spoke to Moshe
  • Leviticus 11b (Targum Yonatan) Then did the
Memra (Word) of call to Mosheh and the Memra
of spoke with him from the tabernacle of
    ordinance saying

yyy
Comment According to the Aramaic Targum
Jonathan/Yonatan, it was the Word of YHWH that
spoke to Moshe We can easily see that inference
from the Hebrew text Vayyiqra el Mosheh
vayyedaber YHWH
19
Qara
  • According to some sources, in ancient times the
word Qara (call) was used to refer to the
Scriptures, i.e. what is called the Tanakh
Torah, Nevim, and Ketuvim (Torah, Prophets and
    Writings).
  • Today the word call also has spiritual
connotations. For example, what does it mean to
    answer the call?

20
Qara
  • Rashi says And He spoke, and He said, and
He commanded, was always preceded by God
calling to Moses by name (Torath Kohanim
12-3). ???????? is an expression of affection,
the same expression employed by the ministering
angels when addressing each other, as it says,
And one called (???????) to the other (Isa.
    63).

Mandatory Offerings
25
Neither Fat Nor Blood
Leviticus 314-15 (CJB) 14 He is to present from
it his offering, an offering made by fire to
ADONAI it is to consist of the fat covering the
inner organs, all the fat above the inner organs,
15 the two kidneys, the fat on them near the
flanks, and the covering of the liver, which he
will remove with the kidneys.
26
It is Food
Leviticus 311 (CJB) 11 The cohen will make it
go up in smoke on the altar it is food (lechem),
an offering made by fire to ADONAI.
Comment Literally, the flesh being put on the
altar is lechem, or bread of the offering. There
are numerous connections to make with flesh that
is called bread.and Yeshua.
27
Neither Fat Nor Blood
Leviticus 316-17 (CJB) 16 The cohen will make
them go up in smoke on the altar it is food, an
offering made by fire to be a fragrant aroma all
the fat belongs to ADONAI. 17 It is to be a
permanent regulation through all your generations
wherever you live that you will eat neither fat
nor blood.'" Comment The rabbis distinguish
between chelev, and shuman.
28
Neither Fat Nor Blood
Chelev refers to the outer layer of fat, also
called suet. The prohibited chelev is the
abdominal fat on the stomach, kidney and flank.
It can be peeled away like a skin. When kosher
meat is purchased the chelev has already been
removed. The rest of the fat, which is
permissible, is called shuman.

The Salt of the Covenant
Leviticus 213 (CJB) You are to season every
grain offering of yours with salt- do not omit
from your grain offering the salt of the covenant
with your God, but offer salt with all your
offerings.
Review the following passages Bamidbar/Numbers
1819 2 Chronicles 135 Mark 949-50 Matthew
513 Romans 121 and Colossians 46
31
The Priest, the Messiah
Read Yeshayahu 611-2
In the Dead Sea Scrolls 11Q13 (the Melchizedek
Document) Isaiah 612 is quoted with
"Melchizedek" substituted for YHWH.
11Q13 Columns 4-9 quotes Isaiah 611-2 but
substitutes "the year of Melchizedek's favor" for
"the year of YHWH's favor" thus identifying the
Melchizedekfigure with YHWH in this passage.
32
The Priest, the Messiah
Psalms 1104 (Scriptures) ????  has sworn and
does not relent, You are a priest forever
According to the order of Malkitsed_eq.
33
Unintentional Sin
Vayyiqra 517 (CJB) "If someone sins by doing
something against any of the mitzvot of ADONAI
concerning things which should not be done, he is
guilty, even if he is unaware of it and he bears
the consequences of his wrongdoing.
