Recent Developments in Relations between Brazil

1 Brasilia Declaration, June 2003 India,
Brazil and South Africa (IBSA) decide to
work together 2 WTO Meeting India and Brazil
work together on many issues at WTO, in favour
of developing countries. 3 First Joint
Comission Meeting, October 2003, New Delhi.
Brazilian Minister of External Relations of
Brazil leads Brazilian delegation to India,
comprised of officials and businessmen. The
two governments decide to enhance their
collaboration in many areas. 4 Visit of
President Lula to India, January 2004. President
Lula travelled to India with 97 Brazilian
businessmen. Meetings with Indian companies
took place and a better commercial
relationship was established. 5 India signs
Preferential Trade Agreement with MERCOSUR in
December 2004. 6 Governor of Sao Paulo visits
India with a large business delegation in
November 2005. Governor met PM and visited
IITF 2005. 7 2nd Joint Commission Meeting held
in Brasilia, on February 1 and 2, 2006.
