    how to incorporate entrepreneurship into your
    classroom
  • (even if you dont teach business!)

Why is entrepreneurship important?
  • At a macro level, its important for the US
    economy
  • Small businesses create 75 of all new jobs and
    all net new jobs
  • Small businesses contribute more than 90 of the
    nations GDP
  • Economic volatility makes jobs less permanent

Why is entrepreneurship important?
  • At the micro level its important for the
    community
  • Nearly all businesses in the county are small
    businesses
  • Yuma ranked in the top two places in the US to
    start a business according to Inc. Magazine
  • Need to overcome skills deficit

Entrepreneurship is important to our students and
schools
  • We also know that more than 70 of American
    high-schoolers have interest in owning their own
    business.
  • Students in entrepreneurship education programs
    show improved school performance and more
    ambitious goals for life after school.
  • Studies from Philadelphias high school system
    show that at-risk students enrolled in
    entrepreneurship education have better
    attendance, have higher grades in math and
    English, and are more likely to graduate from
    school.
