Overview
The Windy City

• Students provided urban field experience in
  Chicago Public Schools over fall break in
  October.
• Schedule (Monday Wednesday)
• Monday Cultural Immersion Day
• Tuesday Wednesday Classroom Experience
• Students participate in group discussions and
  journaling at the end of each day
• Housing Transportation
• Students stay at the Hostelling International
  Chicago
• www.hichicago.org no cost to the student
• Travel via University Vehicle
• Other Expenses
• Students pay for food and other minimal
  additional cost

• I was greatly affected. When our supervising
  teacher sat down spoke about some of the
  students history and family life I was blown
  away. However, I was even more shocked by the
  levels all the students were at for reading and
  math. I saw misconceptions I had about urban
  schools.

• For any student who is thinking about teaching
  in urban schools this was the perfect opportunity
  to do so!
