technical and economic conditions of animal
production - EAAP stimulates active cooperation among animal
scientists from different member countries
7EAAP Introduction
- The member organizations must
- represent the professional interests of
8EAAP Introduction
- The six fundamental objectives of EAAP are
- 1. to promote advancement of scientific research
and sustainable development of animal industry - 2. to promote experimentation, application and
extension
9EAAP Introduction
- 3. to improve technical and economic conditions
of the livestock sector - 4. to improve welfare of farm animals and the
conservation of the rural environment
10EAAP Introduction
-
- 5. to control and optimize the use of natural
resources in general and animal genetic resources
in particular - 6. to encourage the involvement of young

15Present Situation of Working Groups
- Every wg must have the Terms of Reference
- Level of activity of the wgs is variable
- Participation of members to activities is also
very variable - Activities of wgs depend much on the leadership
(for the efficiency of the chair)
16Present Situation of Working Groups
- Few new wgs were formed in the last years
- No existing wg had significantly changed the
interest - Many interesting new subjects can be dealt by new
wgs poultry, aquaculture, EU relationship,
17Animal Fiber Working Group
- The Council established the new wg on Animal
Fiber - Nomination of a Carlo Renieri as convenor for
planning of the new group - The Council establishes the ToR, such as
- Organizations of workshops
- Publication of books and articles
- Dissemination through EAAP means
- Participation in international projects
18New Organization of Working Groups
- The wg should be coordinated with Study
Commissions - The wg should be composed of maximum six members
(1 President, 1 or 2 Vice-Presidents, 1
Secretary) - Members are only for EAAP countries
- All charges are for three years, renewable once
19New Organization of Working Groups
- Members of the wg will have on-line free access
to Animal - Wgs reports their activities to the Council and
to the General Assembly - One meeting per year of the wg is required, other
forms of meeting (i.e. electronic) might be
necessary
20Main Topic of the last EAAP Annual Meeting
(Dublin, 26-29 August)
- Sustainable animal production
- Societal and industry aspects
- Biological and production aspects related to milk
quality - Biological and production aspects related to meat
